Hey, Team Arizona!
Wondering what to do in the next couple weeks? Here are some suggestions:
Get involved with protecting the vote in AZ and attend the Arizona Coordinated Campaign’s upcoming Voter Protection Zoom on Saturday, October 5. They’ll fill you in on the many ways you can volunteer- from poll observing to operating a voter assistance hotline. Sign up here.
Force Multiplier is highlighting six new candidates across the country who are poised to help flip the House, one of whom is Arizona’s own Dr. Amish Shah (AZ-01)! Dr. Shah is up against a 7-term Republican incumbent, and he has a real chance to flip this district. Make a donation and register to hear him speak alongside two other US House candidates on Monday, September 30, from 5-6pm MST. By default this donation will be distributed evenly among the six candidates Force Multiplier is supporting, but you can customize this and only donate to Dr. Shah if you prefer.
For those of you who are looking for some reasons to feel hope and inspiration this election season, read David Pepper’s Substack on how the “run everywhere” strategy has enabled some amazing candidates and changes in AZ. For starters, the new AZ Attorney General, Kris Mayes, who won by the narrowest margin in the country in 2022 (280 votes), is pursuing charges against several January 6 conspirators that her predecessor refused to even look into. Her incredibly close victory has allowed her to indict officials like Mark Meadows and protect democracy in AZ.
David Pepper and AG Mayes were in Yavapai County’s Prescott, a very conservative area, to celebrate wins like this and to highlight the importance of running more close races, like the ones Democratic candidates Jay Ruby, Marcia Smith, and Mike Fogel are currently in. These three have put together a coordinated campaign for the AZ State Legislature in Yavapai County, despite its conservative makeup. Their campaigns represent a more organized and optimistic approach that effectively leverages public funding, and are a blueprint for how Dems need to take advantage of every possible opportunity! So GO READ HIS ARTICLE for more details on how and why we should run everywhere!!
Lastly, we are fast approaching the October 1 deadline for writing and sending out letters in Vote Forward’s voter registration campaign! This is the final push, and they are still in need of a significant amount of writers for AZ. Click here for details.
OK, that’s all for now. Thanks so much!
