Hey, Team AZ!
Hope you’re good. Couple of things:
First, an Arizona activist just posted this on a message board I’m part of:
Would like to share this local AZ group with everyone: Civic Engagement Beyond Voting. I receive an email from them every Sunday. They take time to find out about every single (mostly awful) bill that the AZ Legislature proposes. We log in to the legislature website, and give a thumbs up or thumbs down. Superbowl Sunday, I had 92 bills to register my reaction! Excellent group with insightful info about everything the legislature is (or isn't) doing in AZ.
I looked CEBV up, and they truly do seem like an amazing org. I hope you, too, will check them out. Especially because they tell us, on their “take action” signup page, that
Not only will CEBV be closely following the AZ legislature, we are broadening our scope to a variety of state & local Boards and Commissions. All have a direct impact on our communities, neighborhoods, and daily lives.
Now THAT is great news. Please sign up to take action with them if you live in AZ. Or share this with folks you know in the state.
Now my other big news: my main newsletter’s 22K subscribers have voted on which states to raise money for this year through a States Project Giving Circle, and we landed on Arizona and PA! Woot! I have set a goal of…wait for it…100K! And in the first 24 hours we’ve raised 13K. Fantastic!
If you want to see why raising money for the AZ state legislative races is critical read the States Project’s quick Arizona explainer here. (TLDR: we’re going to try for a Dem trifecta!) Once convinced, please consider making a donation to the Chop Wood, Carry Statehouses fund and/or sharing the link with friends who have some money to give.
Last thing! If you’re hankering to write postcards don’t forget that the Northeast Arizona Native Democrats are writing to continue registering and engaging High Potential Native Democratic voters in Northeast Arizona. Get addresses here. This is a Mobilize link, but there is no actual meeting for this project. You will receive a list of 25 addresses via email on the Friday you choose. Use your own postcards.
OK, all. More soon. Thanks for all you do.
Jess
