Hey, Team AZ
So, I just heard from Melissa Walker of the States Project and an urgent situation has come up in AZ. The unopposed Dem state senate candidate in LD 22, Diego Espinoza, dropped out of the race to take a lobbying job for a private utility without giving notice to the party. (!!! 😡)
It's too late to get his name off the ballot, so there has to be a coordinated effort to educate Dem voters NOT to vote for him (their votes will be wasted) but instead to WRITE IN the new candidate's name. That is Dr. Evangeline Diaz, who was vetted and chosen by the ADLCC.
The GOP didn’t have a candidate in this race but now they, too, are running a write-in candidate. Sigh.
The people on the ground in AZ estimate they will need about $50,000 to develop and distribute leaflets, digital communication, etc. to educate voters in the district about how to do that-- it's very complex. There are 51 Giving Circles focused on AZ, so if each one raises their goal by $1,000 we can provide enough new resources to not siphon resources from the other campaigns. This has to be done quickly because 80% of Arizonans vote by mail and the ballots go out on OCT 12.
Remember, we are ONE SEAT in each chamber from flipping the AZ statehouse blue! We can’t lose this “safe blue” seat!
I have raised my AZ Giving Circle goal another 1K (to $6,100, although I want to raise as much as humanly possible) and hope you will consider donating again (or for the first time) to help us reach it. I also expect there will be direct actions we can take to help in this new district, and I will let you know as soon as they are announced.
Here’s the link to give any amount. Please, please share this with friends. WE MUST WIN IN ARIZONA!
Thanks.
Jess
